ACH Return

A failed or reversed ACH payment, commonly due to insufficient funds or a closed account.

An ACH return occurs when a bank transfer can't complete — most often from insufficient funds (the ACH equivalent of a bounced check), a closed account, or incorrect account details. The payment is reversed and may carry a return fee. Returns are why an ACH payment can take a few business days to be considered final.
