National Dues

National dues (also called HQ or international dues) are charged by the organization's headquarters for each member and remitted by the chapter. Chapters usually roll this amount into the dues each member pays, then forward the headquarters' portion. National dues fund insurance, programming, staff, and organization-wide services. How much are national dues? Published 2025-26 fee schedules put the dues line alone at roughly $185 to $215 per member per year (Tau Kappa Epsilon $205, Beta Theta Pi $192, Delta Chi $185 across fall and spring billing), and about $260 to $430 per member per year once the headquarters' liability insurance or risk-management assessment is added (Alpha Kappa Lambda $260 to $300 all-in, Beta Theta Pi $402, TKE's $205 plus a risk fee calculated from a $225-per-man base). New members also owe one-time national charges for candidacy and initiation, typically $325 to $470 combined. Chapters bill these amounts to members alongside local dues, so a member's semester invoice is usually several times the national portion.
